Residents of Nyaruguru District have expressed gratitude to INADES-Formation Rwanda for its significant role in improving their livelihoods through the ALBOAN and JP RWEE projects.
The appreciation was voiced during celebrations marking International Women’s Day at the project level in Nyaruguru District. The event focused on promoting the welfare of women and families. Beneficiaries testified that the projects have helped them overcome poverty, resolve family conflicts, and embrace sustainable development practices.
Mukarukundo, a resident of Munini Sector, shared how her family life has transformed. She explained that before receiving training from INADES, she frequently argued with her husband, but their relationship has since improved.
“Before, we lived in constant conflict. I would argue with my husband every day. But after INADES intervened and trained us, we now live in harmony. They also taught us modern farming, and today we practice agriculture and livestock keeping,” she said.
Her husband, Habimana Emmanuel, admitted that he used to abuse alcohol and mistreat his wife. However, after attending INADES training sessions, he changed his behavior.
“I used to drink excessively and return home to beat my wife. Today, we live peacefully and work together to build our family. We thank INADES for helping us reconcile,” he said.
Uwase Aline, a young mother who gave birth at an early age, also testified that the project transformed her life. She noted that INADES supported her both financially and through training, enabling her to join savings groups and rebuild her life.
“After giving birth, I was in extreme poverty. INADES supported me financially and trained me on how to improve my livelihood. Today, I am doing well together with my child,” she said.
The Mayor of Nyaruguru District, Emanuel Murwanashyaka, commended INADES-Formation Rwanda for its contribution to improving the welfare of residents, particularly women.
“Women’s empowerment is the foundation of family and national development. We appreciate INADES for its visible impact in Nyaruguru, where families have reconciled, embraced savings culture, and received support to overcome poverty,” he said.
The Country Director of INADES, Desire Bimenyimana, also thanked the district leadership and partners for their collaboration in improving citizens’ livelihoods.
“We appreciate everyone’s contribution to community development. Many achievements have been realized in this district, and we must continue working together to sustain this progress,” he said.
Esperance Muhutukazi, the Legal Representative of INADES, praised the residents of Nyaruguru, especially women, for their outstanding efforts in applying the knowledge gained from the project. She emphasized that more initiatives are ongoing to ensure sustainable development.
“We focus on empowering people to create jobs and engage in income-generating activities. We commend women who have excelled by applying the skills acquired. Much has been achieved, and more is still being done to improve livelihoods,” she said.
During the event, various forms of support were distributed, including Rwf 4 million granted to Urumuri Cooperative in Cyahinda Sector, five sewing machines for young mothers, one ironing machine, 70 hoes, and 15 bags of cement.
Beneficiaries expressed their excitement, noting that the support will help them improve their living conditions and develop their families. Participants concluded that the project plays a vital role in uplifting communities, especially women, and pledged to make the most of its benefits to achieve sustainable development.
